AMC, Negombo recognises achievers

Dr. Shashinie M. Thenabadu while encouraging students stressed the responsibility on their part not only to work hard but choose the correct path to achieve best possible results. Dr. Thenabadu explained how education played a vital part in making good citizens. She said so at the recent prize giving of Ave Maria Convent, Negombo. The academic acknowledged the efforts made by the convent to appreciate those who had achieved good results at national examinations, even after a lapse of two years due to Covid-19.

The Principal of the school, Rev. Sr. Shermila Jayawardena, presented the Principal’s annual report, highlighting the achievements of the school during the year 2019.

The school proudly appreciated the 76 students who had gained admission to faculties of arts, commence, mathematics and science of various universities here through their hard work and proper guidance of their parents and teachers. In addition to them, there were 30 students who passed the grade 5 scholarship examination, eight students who obtained 9 A’s at the G.C.E O/L Examination, 17 who obtained 3 A’s at the G.C.E A/L examination. The teachers were also felicitated. This was followed by several provincial and national level award winning performances by the students.
