Govt. resorting to uncivilised measures to delay polls – JVP

JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the government has resorted to unciviised measures to delay the local government polls, having exhausted all civilised means to postpone them.

“The President is now resorting to unfair and unjust means. He knows that all the means that have been available to him, through the Constitution, are over. Now, he has determined to try uncivilised methods,” Dissanayake told the media.

He said that a circular had been issued stopping all government institutions projects and work that so far had been done on credit facilities. Usually, that is how government departments operate. This circular is meant to prevent the Elections Commission from obtainomg goods and services from other departments and ministries. The government has not yet issued fuel quota for the government vehicles to be used for election-related work,” Dissanayake said.

Similarly, the services obtained by the public servants from the Attorney General Department in legal matters and cases have been suspended by another Circular issued on Feb 2,” he said.
