மாகந்துர மதூஷிடம் சிக்கிய துப்பாக்கி: முன்னாள் அமைச்சர் டக்ளஸ் தேவானந்தாவுக்கு சிறை!

கைது செய்யப்பட்ட முன்னாள் அமைச்சர் டக்ளஸ் தேவானந்தா எதிர்வரும் ஜனவரி மாதம் 09ஆம் திகதி வரை விளக்கமறியலில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

அவரை இன்று பிற்பகல் கம்பஹா நீதவான் நீதிமன்றில் முன்னிலைப்படுத்திய போதே இந்த உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கடந்த 26ஆம் திகதி குற்றப்புலனாய்வு திணைக்களத்தினால் அவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார்.

2001ஆம் ஆண்டு அவரது தனிப்பட்ட பாவனைக்காக இராணுவத்தினால் வழங்கப்பட்ட துப்பாக்கி ஒன்று, 2019ஆம் ஆண்டு திட்டமிட்ட குற்றவாளியான மாகந்துர மதூஷிடம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட விசாரணைகளின் போது கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட சம்பவத்துடன் தொடர்புடைய விசாரணைகளுக்காகவே அவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

மதூஷிடம் இருந்து மீட்கப்பட்ட அந்தத் துப்பாக்கியின் இலக்கங்களைச் சோதித்தபோது, அது டக்ளஸ் தேவானந்தாவிற்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட துப்பாக்கி என்பது தெரியவந்துள்ளது.

இது தொடர்பில் அவரிடம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட விசாரணைகளின் போது, குறித்த துப்பாக்கி எவ்வாறு காணாமல் போனது என்பது குறித்து தெளிவுபடுத்தத் தவறியமையினாலேயே அவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார்.

கைது செய்யப்பட்ட அவர் 72 மணிநேர தடுப்புக்காவல் உத்தரவில் விசாரிக்கப்பட்ட நிலையில் தற்போது விளக்கமறியலில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

Former Minister Douglas Devananda Remanded Until January 9 Over Missing Firearm Case

Former Minister Douglas Devananda, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been remanded in custody until January 9. The order was issued after he was produced before the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

Devananda was taken into custody on December 26 by the CID. The arrest is connected to an investigation into a firearm issued to him by the Sri Lanka Army in 2001 for his personal protection. This specific weapon was later recovered in 2019 during the interrogation of the notorious organized criminal, “Makandure Madush.”

Investigations into the serial numbers of the recovered weapon confirmed that it was the same firearm issued to Douglas Devananda. During questioning, the former minister reportedly failed to provide a clear explanation as to how the firearm went missing or how it ended up in the possession of the criminal gang. Following a 72-hour detention order for further interrogation, he has now been placed in judicial remand
