Acting on a spate of complaints, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) earlier this week arrested a married couple for swindling scores of people, seeking employment abroad.
A senior SLBFE official said that the couple had collected Rs 550,000 from several persons, promising them employment in Poland and Turkey. The SLBFE recovered 11 passports during the raid carried out in the Thimbirigasyaya area of Colombo.
They were produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate (No 05), on Dec. 28, and remanded till January 05
