Dinara upsets Kurera to win singles crown

St. Bridget’s Convent player Dinara de Silva beat last year finalist Anjalika Kurera to win the Women’s Singles crown at the 108th Tennis Nationals continued at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Sunday.

Dinara scored 6-2, 6-4 against the former champion to bag her third singles title of the event. She was also the champion in the Under 16 and Under 18 girls’ singles events held earlier.

Dinara overcame Janali Manamperi in the quarter-final (6-1, 2-1 rtd.) and top seed Saajida Razick  in the semi-final (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) on her way to winning the women’s singles final.
