Presidential Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs, Prof. Arsu Marasinghe, has tendered an unconditional apology to the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, over an unsubstantiated allegation that the latter was planning to contest the next presidential election.
The claim was made on the ‘Thulawa’ programme, on ITN, recently.
The former UNP National List MP later retracted his statement. Again appearing on ITN later, Prof. Marasinghe acknowledged that his allegation was baseless.
