The Sri Lankan rupee has shown a notable appreciation of 19.8 percent against the US dollar this year, from the period spanning up to 26 May 2023, according to Central Bank statistics
The Sri Lankan rupee has also experienced significant appreciation against various currencies during this timeframe as well.
The rupee appreciated 26.4 percent against the Japanese Yen, 17 percent against the Sterling Pound, 18.9 percent against the Euro, and 19.7 percent against the Indian Rupee.
The rupee earlier collapsed from 202 per dollar in March 2022 to around 360 at the end last year after the government allowed it to float.
