Govt. to hand back over 2,900 more acres of Jaffna land

EPDP leader and Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda has announced plans to release 2,900 acres in Walikamam (north) in the Jaffna peninsula in terms of a gazette issued in 2013, five years after the conclusion of the war.

Following a recent visit to the Walikamam region, Jaffna District MP said that the land would be released within two months.Out of the lands brought under military control during the conflict, about 6,400 acres had been already released in line with the 2013 gazette.
