The Unchanging Nature of a Con Artist
A con artist will remain a con artist until the day he dies—neither can you straighten a dog’s tail, nor can a leopard change its spots. Donald Trump will continue using every trick in the book to deceive the world. His nature of cheating and dishonesty will never change. He promises a “$5,000 Trump Gift” if the Republican Party wins the Midterm elections, yet this is just another tactic.
Consider the following promises made to con American voters, none of which came to fruition:

Grocery Prices: Claimed they would drop to the lowest levels in American history the day after his inauguration.

Gas Prices: Promised they would plummet to historical lows immediately following his inauguration.

Inflation: Assured voters it would plummet instantly.

Prescription Medicine: Claimed prices would drop to all-time lows the day after taking office.

Personal Wealth: Promised citizens would have so much money left over they wouldn’t know what to do with it.

The Ukraine War: Promised to end the war within 24 hours of taking office.

Global Conflict: Claimed there would never be any wars under his leadership.

Nobel Peace Prize: Declared he would win the Nobel Peace Prize for bringing permanent world peace for the first time in history.
He has failed on every single one of these promises.
His approval ratings have plummeted to historic lows, leaving Trump desperate to maintain his hold on power. As a last resort, he is resorting to monetary inducements to buy off voters who have consistently fallen for his tactics in the past. His core philosophy remains clear: money can buy anyone—whether they are Supreme Court justices, religious leaders, or bankers. In his view, no one is immune to the allure of wealth.
He projects this illusion of success through Trump Towers, Mar-a-Lago, and an obsession with gold-plated decor. Yet his actual track record reveals a history of refusing to pay his workers, contractors, and subcontractors; his promises were nothing more than a mirage in the desert. When faced with massive debts, his standard playbook is to force creditors to sue him, counter-sue them for astronomical sums claiming “unsatisfactory service,” and ultimately pressure them into settling out of court for a fraction of what he owes.
Now, this con artist is promising voters $5,000 each—a scheme that would cost over $1 trillion. While such an offer is blatantly illegal, legality has never concerned him. He is fully prepared to play this unlawful card if it succeeds in tricking the electorate once again. In reality, there is zero chance he will ever actually pay that $5,000 to those gullible enough to believe him.
His nature goes beyond narcissism into shameless sadism. He has been accused of raping women and is worse than Jeffrey Epstein when it comes to predatory behavior—the Epstein files will ultimately reveal crimes far worse than Epstein’s own. This is precisely why he has gone to such lengths to suppress and hide the Epstein files, even going so far as to start a conflict with Iran primarily to divert public attention away from them.
If his die-hard supporters ever realized the true magnitude of his crimes, they would melt away like summer snow. However, many of his sycophants share his exact character traits. Individuals like Kevin Bassent, Jim Jordan, Kash Patel, Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, Kristi Noem, Pete Hegseth, Roger Stone, Ghislaine Maxwell, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Lindell, and Mike Johnson are all, to varying degrees, cut from the same cloth—admirers of his actions who wish they could operate with the same impunity. Remember Michael Cohen, who idolized Trump before he began working directly for him. By contrast, figures like Tillerson, Bolton, Pence, and Comey were among the few who recognized Trump’s true character early on and kept their distance accordingly.
The dangerous reach of Donald Trump’s rhetoric lies not just in its absurdity, but in how readily its tactics are emulated by the British right wing. When Trump stands in Dallas and promises a $5,000 “dividend” to every voter if his party retains power, he relies on a classic populist playbook: dangle unachievable economic fantasies to mask systemic structural failure. In reality, with a US national debt soaring past $40 trillion and net interest servicing consuming over a trillion dollars annually, a $1.35 trillion electoral payout is a mathematical impossibility—a “pie in the sky” promise designed to buy support before being quietly shelved under the guise of legal or congressional barriers. Just as in the UK, where public revenue overwhelmingly relies on working-class income, VAT, and basic duties rather than giant corporate windfalls, the burden of these empty tax cuts and rebates invariably falls back on working families who pay the price through gutted healthcare and depleted public services. For those of us in the UK watching right-wing parties eagerly import this brand of deceit, the lesson is clear: accepting these transparent bribes requires ignoring fiscal reality, and remaining silent only invites the same destructive populism to take root in our own political landscape
