The 57h birthday of Venerable Bergama Wimaladhamma Thera, the Chief Incumbent of the Nawala Wimala Vihara temple was marked last week and the temple organised a series of Pinkamas to mark the occasion.As a part of these events sanghika dana was offered to 57 bhikkus.
Beragama Wimala Thero hailing from Beragama in Ambalantota was born on March 23, 1967 and ordained as a priest in 1981 at the age of 14 years, under the tutelage of Mahanayake of the Amarapura Chapter Rev. Verellane Wimalathissa Nayake thero.
He received his higher ordaining under Ven Weligama Sumanaransi Thero, Hikkaduwe Ginajasara Thero, Ambalangoda Sumangala Nayake Thero abnd Kotogoda Dhamamwasa Uttharaithara Maha Nayake thero.
He is currently the Mulya Lekhkadikari of the Amarapura Chapter. Recently he was conferred with the Maha Vihara Vansalankara Saddharmakeerthi Sri Vichithrabhani title and the Chief Sanghanayake post of the Salpitiya Korale. He is also the Chief Shaghanayake of the Western Province.
