The Ministry of Agriculture would distribute 70,000 goats among unemployed youth, this year, Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera said on Sunday.
The goats would be distributed free of charge, minister Amaraweera said, adding that Sri Lanka imported a large amount of goat milk and mutton annually because there weren’t enough goats in the country. There was a very high demand for goat skins as well, he said.
The ministry had allocated Rs 150 million for the project, which would commence in 2024, the minister said.
