The Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Rathnayake in a media release has announced that new dates for the Local Authorities poll will be announced on March 9 after consulting all stake holders including the Finance Ministry, Government Printer and the Police Department.
The Supreme Court order on case number SC/FRA/69/2023 preventing the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance from withholding funds allocated for the LA poll through the 2023 Budget Appropriation was delivered today.
