Police probe disappearance of gold bars from court storeroom

A team of CID officers, led by an ASP, has conducted preliminary investigations on Friday into the disappearance of two gold bars from a storehouse within the premises of the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court.A Court clerk lodged a complaint with the Keselwatta police on 03 Dec., about the missing gold bars worth about Rs. 100 million.

The CID team recorded statements from several staff members including three Registrars attached to the court complex.The CID team examined footage from the CCTV cameras installed at the court complex.

Police said that they would investigate the mobile phone records of the suspects.
