We the British Voters should know the Truth. Major source of the Treasury’s income is NOT from the Wealthy and the Corporations!
Trump will repeat the Lie of the Century till his last breadth. His election landslide victory was stolen by the democrats! That is in America but we are not in America but in UK where even greater and very dangerous lies have been propagated since the Rightwing creatures emerged to the Earth!
Their lies propagated by their Media 24 hours every day and the Ministers and Prime Ministers repeating over and over relentlessly without giving breathing space to the working and non working population is deplorable. Their brow-beating tones and smart suits with posh English have been utilised to legitimise their lies.
We are constantly told a very specific, convenient story about this country.
Tune in to the right-wing press or listen to political soundbites, and the message never changes.
They tell us that it is the corporations and the ultra-wealthy who single-handedly carry Britain on their shoulders.
They tell us that anyone claiming welfare is an unproductive drain, bleeding the public purse dry.
And their solution is always identical: slash the social safety net, cut support for the vulnerable to pay for defence, and hand tax incentives to the richest.
It is a comfortable narrative for the powerful, but the cold, hard numbers expose it as a complete fiction.
In the 2025–26 tax year, HMRC collected roughly £938 billion in cash receipts.
When you include local government and other public institutions, the total intake reached £1.235 trillion. Which is £1,235,000,000,000,000. This will take many centuries to count!
Look at who actually fills that treasury.
Corporation Tax brings in about £99 billion—just over 10% of HMRC’s total receipts.
Capital Gains Tax and property stamp duties each generate around £20 billion.
Inheritance Tax raises less than £9 billion—barely one percent.
So who is actually carrying the British state?
It is the working people of this country, and it is every ordinary consumer who buys goods and services every single day.
PAYE Income Tax taken directly from worker pay packets raises over £280 billion.
National Insurance contributions add roughly £204 billion.
That means taxes on work and employment bring in £484 billion—over 50% of the entire HMRC ledger.
Then look at consumption.
VAT brings in about £181 billion—nearly a fifth of all central receipts. The wealthy andcorporations claimback the VAT while the rest don’t get a penny back
Add PAYE, National Insurance, and VAT together, and you have over 70% of all central government revenues.
And here is the reality the right-wing commentators refuse to admit: people on welfare pay tax every single day.
Nobody is exempt from the cash register.
Every time a pensioner, a carer, a disabled citizen, or a low-income family buys clothes, pays an energy bill, puts fuel in a car, or buys household essentials, they pay VAT and duties.
Official ONS data shows that the poorest households pay a significantly higher percentage of their disposable income in indirect taxes like VAT than the richest in society.
They pay it on groceries, on utility bills, on everyday necessities where there is zero room to hire clever accountants or hide money offshore.
They also pay Council Tax directly out of their basic support to keep local bins collected and social care operating.
The money paid to welfare claimants does not vanish into a vacuum.
It is spent immediately in local high streets, flowing straight into businesses and right back into HMRC as VAT and economic activity.
It is not the mega-rich or corporate boardrooms propping up Britain.
The British state is funded from the bottom up—by every worker who opens their payslip, and by every struggling citizen who pays tax at the till.
It is time to reject the lie that the vulnerable are a drain and demand an economic policy built on the truth of who actually pays the bills.
