R Subbalakshmi is an Indian actress and singer who mainly worked in the Malayalam film industry. She made her acting debut in the 2002 film ‘Nandanam’ directed by Ranjith. Throughout her career, she graced the screen in over 75 films across various languages. Professional Life

Before entering the realm of acting, Subbalakshmi had a multifaceted career. She initially thrived as a musician and dance instructor at Jawahar Balabhavan. Notably, she carved her path as the first female composer at All India Radio in South India and dedicated substantial time as a dubbing artist. Subbalakshmi stepped into the world of acting with her debut in the 2002 film ‘Nandanam’. However, it was her standout performance in the movie ‘Kalyanaranam’, where she shared the screen with Dileep and Navya Nair in pivotal roles, that truly propelled her to fame and recognition. Later on, she gained prominence for portraying grandmotherly characters on the big screen, shining brightly in these roles. In addition to her contributions to Malayalam cinema, she extended her acting prowess to Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada films.

On the professional front, she was last seen in Vijay’s superhit movie ‘Beast’. She also had a significant role in the final film of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, ‘Dil Bechara’.
