The winners of the All Island Schools Tennis Championships were awarded at a function held at Sri Lanka Tennis Association on December 21.
Overall boys’ and girls’ titles were won by Ananda College, Colombo and Musaeus College, Colombo respectively. Ananda won all age category titles, namely Under 19, 17, 15 and 13 to be crowned the overall champions.
Musaeus had two runner-up positions (Under 19 and 13) apart from finishing third in other age categories. That stood them in good stead as they clinched the girls’ overall title. Visakha Vidyalaya were the champions in two age categories.
Upali Amarathunga, Deputy Director of Sports of the Ministry of Education was the Chief Guest of the awards ceremony. Sajeewa Wickramasinghe, Activation and Sponsorship Manager, Nestle Lanka PLC, Iqbal Bin Issack, President Sri Lanka Tennis Association, Prabath Indika, Assistant Director of Sports, Ministry of Education, Pramuditha Wickramasinghe, President Sri Lanka Schools Tennis Association, Lal Dissanayake, Principal Ananda College, Jaliya Yasarathne, Secretary, SLSTA and former national men’s singles champion Yashitha de Silva were among the other guests.
