Five MPs tour Philippines to study ‘best practices of health system’

A Sri Lankan delegation consisting of five MPs visited the Philippines recently to study best health praces in that country. Their visit was sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to the Sri Lanka’s embassy in Manila, the ADB conducted sessions on the best practices of the health system of the Philippines, the Universal Health Care Act of the Philippines. The delegation attended discussions on the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation PhilHealth’s engagement with the private sector.

The delegation comprised Minister of Health Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella, State Minister of Finance of Sri Lanka Shehan Semasinghe, State Minister of Health Seetha Arambepola, MP Madura Vithanage and MP Dr. Gayashan Nawananda, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena and Executive Director, Institute of Policy Studies Dr. Dushni Weerakoon.
