Independence Day celebrations to cost Rs. 200 mn

The Ministry of Home Affairs said on Thursday that the 75th Independence Day celebrations would cost 200 million rupees.State Minister Ashok Priyantha said that initially Rs 570 million had been allocated for the event.

However, the amount was reduced to 200 million after a series of discussions.The Independence Day parade will commence from Kollupitiya Junction and end at Galle Face where the main celebration will be held.The national anthem is to be sung in both Sinhala and Tamil.
