The Police on Saturday arrested a group of Chinese nationals in Aluthgama for allegedly stealing money from the bank accounts of several people around the world through the Internet.Aluthgama police say that they had arrested 39 Chinese nationals on suspicion of defrauding millions of money from the accounts of people living in different countries through the Internet while staying in a tourist resort at Kaluwamodara in Aluthgama on rental basis.
Following investigations carried out based on the complaints received through the embassies, several police teams arrived at the hotel where the Chinese had been staying on Saturday (1) and arrested them . Five women are among the suspects taken into custody.
The 39 suspects were taken to the Aluthgama police in a private bus and the police also seized computers and high-priced smartphones and a lot of cash as evidence.The Aluthgama police and intelligence officials are investigating the incident.
