CBK: Country now paying for not following her mother’s wise policies

If Sri Lanka had followed the policies of Sirimavo Bandaranaike, it would not have been bankruped, former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said yesterday in Colombo.

She made the statement at an event to mark the 107th birth anniversary of Sirimavo Bandaranaike at the BMICH.Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, MPs Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and A.H.M. Fowzie too were present at the event.

Sirimavo Bandaranaike, the world’s first female Prime Minister was born on 17 April 1916.
