Sabry questions insistence of interested parties to cremate bodies of Covid-19 victims

Foreign Minister Ali Sabry has alleged that two persons, a doctor and a professor, who pressured the then government to continue with forcible cremation of Covid-19 victims backed the Galle Face protest campaign against the then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

MP Sabry said that against the backdrop of the 2019 Easter Sunday blasts, various interested parties had targeted the Muslim community unfairly.

Minister Sabry revealed that he had taken up the issue when he met former President Rajapaksa at his Colombo residence, and the latter had said he had done his utmost to allow burials.
