EUR 7 mn EU funding for Mediation Boards

In terms of a European Union funded EUR 7 mn project, the Mediation Board Commission has received 70 laptops, according to the Justice Ministry.

The four-year project titled ‘Supporting Effective Dispute Resolution’ (SEDR) is implemented by the British Council in partnership with the Asia Foundation.

The handing over of the equipment took place at the Justice Ministry yesterday (25).

Speaking at the event, Lars Bredal, Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives stated that “The EU stands with Sri Lanka in its efforts to ensure everyone has access to justice. As digitalisation plays an increasingly important role in all facets of modern society, it is relevant to the functioning of the justice system, as it allows for improved access and delivery of justice. We hope the provision of this equipment will be instrumental in facilitating and strengthening the work of the officers of the MBC.
