Six persons including two teenagers had been arrested for beating a youth to death in Galakanda, Weligama, the police said.
The police said that among the suspects taken into custody were two members of the same family.
The suspects had been under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident, which had occurred following a heated argument, the police said.
The police said that the suspects were aged 16, 21, 23 and 32 years.
